Applying to ALCHE as an International Student

Modified on Sat, 9 Nov at 10:45 PM

Step 1: Submit an application for ALCHE admission and ensure to select the Mauritius Campus as your preferred campus.

Step 2: Wait to receive an admission decision. The decision will be issued within 2 weeks following application submission. (Given that there is no resubmission pending or required from the applicant's)

Step 3: After receiving a conditional/unconditional admission to ALCHE, submit scanned entry permit application documents ( here is the checklist of the required documents) on the Admissions Portal for review by the ALCHE immigration team.

Step 4: Once the ALCHE immigration team has approved your documents, please send hard copies of the reviewed and approved documents by courier to the specified mailing address below.

  • Note: The documents (see the checklist below) to submit by courier must be the hard copy AND original versions (unless a ‘clear copy’ is indicated as acceptable on the checklist).

Step 5: ALCHE will compile your entry permit application pack with all hard copies you sent by courier and will submit it to the Mauritius Passport and Immigration Office (PIO) on your behalf.

Step 6:  The PIO will inform ALCHE of your entry permit application decision, and ALCHE will upload the entry permit on the Admissions Portal for you to view and access.

Step 7: Travel to Mauritius as per Enrolment timelines (within entry permit validity as this permit expires after 3 months of issuance)

Step 8: Undergo a second medical test in Mauritius after matriculation and submit the report to ALCHE. We will then forward it to the PIO on your behalf to facilitate your student residence permit.

Step 9: Open a local bank account within three weeks of obtaining your student residence permit, ensuring a closing balance of 150,000 MUR. Submit the bank statement to ALCHE, who will forward it to the Mauritius PIO on your behalf to maintain the validity of your student residence permit. This step is only applicable to students who are not on a full ALCHE scholarship.

Information for applicants with a ‘Refugees’ status:
To obtain a student residence permit, one must hold a valid international passport. Note that the PIO does not process student residence permits for applicants with refugee status without an international passport. If refugees hold a passport or travel document that is not an international passport, they will not be issued a student residence permit.

Countries with Extended Processing Times for Entry Permits:

Applicants from certain nationalities may face significantly longer processing times for entry permits, which can extend beyond three to four months. This extended processing period is due to the procedures of the Mauritius Passport and Immigration Office (PIO). As a result, it may be challenging to receive a student residence permit in a timely manner. The affected nationalities include: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, North Korea, Laos, Libya, Mali, Pakistan, Palestine State, Iran, Iraq, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Saharawi Republic, Syria, Yemen.

Please note that these extended processing times are determined by the Mauritius PIO and not by ALCHE

Disclaimer:

  1. Document Authenticity: Ensure all documents you submit are complete and authentic. The Mauritius Passport and Immigration Office strictly reviews these documents and may deny or cancel permits if any fraudulent submissions are detected. Providing false or altered documents can seriously jeopardize your chances of obtaining or retaining your student residence permit.

  1. Medical Requirements: The medical check requirements outlined above are mandated by the Mauritius Passport and Immigration Office. ALCHE maintains a non-discriminatory policy and does not discriminate against individuals based on any medical conditions, including those specified.
